INTRODUCTION

TransFan is a transformable furniture which contains sets of teapoy and stool. All of them can both converge and diverge into a different shape. When it is fully expanded, it looks like a Chinese fan.

CONCEPT

TransFan is a transformable piece of furniture which contains sets of teapoy and stools. Each structural element converges and diverges All of them cancon both converge and diverge into different shapes. When it is fully expanded, Trans it looks like a Chinese fan. The blue and white porcelain is a long-held sign has been the sign of the international EeEastern fashion, internationally. The , for the Chinese blue texture of Trans it evokes thecontains the spirit of the Chinese gentiles les and scholars. We incorporated thise traditional cultural concept into the furniture. In Chinese culture, fans represents the humble and respectful spirit of heroes. At the same time, fans it also displays feminise grace and elegance. . the graceful and elegant humanity of women ladies. The transformable design allows users to expand their surface as well as consolidate their spacecollect them together, providing easy interaction with the environment. which would definitely provide users great atmosphere for their usage.

Coaster Design

The furniture set is not the only product in this project. We also design an accessory--coaster--as part of our product. When producing the real furniture, we spend great deal of money to make our furniture perfect. However, the money is far more than we expected, so we design the accessory to balance our expense. Fortunately, the coaster is popular than we want, we even sale more than the cost of furniture. We used this additional bonus to refine our furniture, adding additional function on it.

YODEX (Young Designers' Exhibition) is the largest design exhibition especially oriented to students in Asia. It has been the 37th International Young Designers’ Exhibition (YODEX) since 1982. The competition of YODEX is extremely harsh because the total number of participants in the competition is more than ten thousand. The total number of competitor did not prevent our project from getting the award. We got a Bronze Award in this competitor-ocean.

RESPONSIBILITY

This project is a collective project, everyone in the group are responsible for this product. Originally in our discussion, we decide to produce a stowable furniture. The reason is that my country--Taiwan--is an little island, the land and space in our country is limited. For the pattern on it, we use the pattern of Chinese fan and porcelain as our main theme.

Also, I used AutoCAD to configure the dimension of the product, ranging from teapoys to the stools. Furthermore, I draw the crude version of expanded furniture and stowed version of the furniture and display them in orthographic view and perspective view. For the mockup model sketch, I designed them to fit with the coaster, and blend the coaster into our furniture.
